Gervonta Davis Refuses to Break Tradition as Storm Rises Over Jake Paul Clash

The boxer did not abandon his habits and attended a school in Baltimore to spend quality time with its students

Gervonta Davis, a native of West Baltimore, gathered hundreds of children on the basketball courts at the Robert C. Marshall Recreation Center. The boxing star handed out backpacks and had fun, including dancing competitions. It’s an annual tradition, the back-to-school campaign, that Davis has been organizing in partnership with Unlimited Potential, a nonprofit organization.

This comes at a time when the “Tank” has received harsh criticism for facing Jake Paul in a fight that offers him a good sum of money, instead of facing a renowned boxer. But, despite the criticism, Gervonta Davis has not forgotten his tradition.

Will Jake Paul hurt Gervonta Davis?

Former British light welterweight champion Amir Khan is very sceptical about the exhibition fight between Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis. The obvious difference of more than 40 kilos between the two is perhaps the most alarming thing, and Khan is sure that Davis has no way of avoiding being hit by Paul, who is heavier. All this seems too “desperate” on Tank’s part, according to the former boxing champion.

“In my opinion, Jake Paul is going to hurt Gervonta Davis. Davis is a little man compared to Paul. I think it’s a very uneven matchup,” Khan told the BBC. “This just shows that Tank is desperate to take a fight like this. Someday someone is going to get hurt badly. Nobody wants to play in the MMA cage, but they take boxing lightly and take it as a joke,” he concluded.

The same opinion is shared by Nate Diaz, who already faced Paul and lost. But he also said that the weight difference will make it an unfair fight and that Davis will have to give much more than Paul to be able to win the exhibition.

Eddie Hearn Warns Crawford: You Need To Vacate The Ring Before Jaron Ennis Forces Mandatory Clash You Need To Vacate The Ring

Eddie Hearn has a lot of respect for Terence Crawford and everything the four-weight world champion has accomplished.
The British promoter also has some advice for one of the best boxers of this generation. Hearn encouraged Crawford to relinquish the WBA 154-pound title before Jaron Ennis encounters Uisma Lima in a WBA elimination match Oct. 11 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Ennis (34-0, 31 KOs, 1 NC) would become the WBA’s mandatory challenger in his new division if the heavily favored former welterweight champion beats Angola’s Lima (14-1, 10 KOs). The Philadelphia native would then call Crawford out louder than ever – win, lose or draw in Crawford’s showdown with Canelo Alvarez on Sept. 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
“[Ennis is] fighting a final eliminator for the WBA title, which puts us as mandatory to Terence Crawford,” Hearn told The Ring. “Now, obviously, he may never fight again at ’54, but he has not vacated his title yet.
“If I’m Terence Crawford, I’m vacating now. Because when we become mandatory, we’re calling that fight on, and then he’s gonna have to vacate the belt once Boots is mandatory. That’s not a great look.”
Ennis chased the Crawford fight for a couple years before accepting Crawford wouldn’t grant him that opportunity. Crawford publicly acknowledged that fighting the younger, hungry, multidimensional Ennis didn’t make much business sense at this stage of his Hall of Fame career.

Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) has instead moved up two weight classes to challenge Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) for the Mexican legend’s Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles.
The prevailing feeling within the boxing industry is Crawford won’t return to compete at the junior middleweight limit of 154 pounds, even though holding on to his WBA belt at least gives the Omaha, Nebraska, native leverage at that lower weight.
“Probably not, but I don’t see why not,” Hearn said of Crawford dropping back down in weight. “He’s not a 68-pounder. He’s not a 60-pounder, either. You know, you saw against Madrimov he might not even be a big 154-pounder. And I think Crawford against Boots is just an unbelievable fight.”
Crawford, 37, hasn’t fought since he beat Uzbekistan’s Israil Madrimov (10-2-1, 7 KOs) by unanimous decision almost 13 months ago at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. His competitive fight with Madrimov marked Crawford’s only bout above the welterweight limit of 147 pounds.

Alvarez, 35, has competed at super middleweight or light heavyweight in each of his 12 bouts over the past six years. He still enlisted Ennis as one of his sparring partners recently as he winds down training camp for a fight Netflix will stream worldwide.
Tyson furyEnnis, meanwhile, is already ranked second by the WBA in the 154-pound division. The former Ring, IBF and WBA welterweight champ announced two months ago that he planned to move up to junior middleweight.
The top spot in the WBA’s 154-pound rankings should become available because No.1-rated German Abass Baraou (17-1, 9 KOs) upset Cuba’s Yoenis Tellez (10-1, 7 KOs) by unanimous decision to win the WBA interim title on Aug. 23 at Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida.

“He’s battled through it before” Amir Khan Shares Candid Take on Anthony Joshua vs Moses Itauma: “He’s Been There, Done That”

Amir Khan has given personal insight into what it might be like for former champion Anthony Joshua to take on young challenger Moses Itauma.

Itauma is the man on everyone’s lips right now. The 20-year-old heavyweight has knocked out 11 of his 13 opponents so far. Most impressively, he stopped Dillian White inside two minutes last time out and is now being linked with fights with current undoubted ruler Oleksandr Usyk, and former two-time unified champion Joshua, despite the gap in age and experience

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, Khan explained how hard it is for a former champion to re-find the energy and urgency of their earlier years.

“Experience, Joshua has. Itauma has that hunger and sometimes when a fighter has that hunger and he’s willing to go in there and die in that ring, that’s what mentality Itauma has got. He’ll walk through anyone and anything.

“When you’re young, he’s not really tasted that money yet. He’s not really had them titles yet. He wants that. When someone wants something, they’re going to walk through walls. Joshua has been there and done it and achieved it all and won it all and got enough money in the bank.”

Gervonta Davis

Khan then admitted he can see why people believe Itauma beats Joshua.

“I don’t blame Itauma having more. I don’t blame Gareth [A Davies] saying Joshua will probably get beat. We all have our sell by date. It’s happened to me.

“We might be better than fighters but when you’ve made enough money and got everything you want to and you’ve not got that fire in your belly you just let it be. You go in there and it’s like an exhibition. That’s why boxing’s hard, you don’t know when to call it a day.

Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that and ‘AJ’ can’t call it a day and takes that fight and gets beaten by a younger fighter. That’s what always happens, a young lion comes in and takes the crown.”

Joshua has not fought since September last year when he was stopped inside five rounds by Daniel Dubois. Another loss to a second young hopeful would surely signal the end for the popular Brit.

The fight, as things stand, will not be discussed, as both men are currently working with trainer Ben Davison.

Heated Rivalry Rekindled: Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach in Fiery Verbal Showdown

Despite agreeing to fight Jake Paul, Gervonta “Tank” Davis is still having a war or words with Lamont Roach.

There was clearly a good deal of mutual respect between Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Lamont Roach heading into their March 1 fight for Davis’ WBA lightweight belt. However, there was also a good deal of trash talk between them.

Then the fight happened, and Roach shocked much of the boxing world by producing a majority draw decision against Davis. Not only that, but there’s a clear case to be made that Roach deserved to win the fight outright, given that Davis wasn’t penalized for taking a knee in the middle of the ninth round (which should have at least cost him a point).

If there wasn’t bad blood between these two sides before that fight, there certainly was after the fight ended, as Davis called Roach out for parading around like he won. And as negotiations seemingly began for a rematch, it was clear that the stakes were as high as ever between Roach and Davis

However, despite reports of the rematch happening on August 16, that is no longer the case, as that date has come and gone without Roach and Davis fighting. Instead, Tank agreed to fight Paul in November, thus leaving Roach at the altar.

Gervonta Davis, Lamont Roach Have Bitter Social Media Back And Forth

If Roach wasn’t already irked at Tank for not signing on the dotted line, Tank’s pivoting to fight Paul likely sent him over the edge. And this was conveyed by comments Roach and Davis directed at each other on August 25, much of which has now been deleted by Tank.

At one point, Roach made an X post that read, “All you stupid mfs know if I received step aside money I woulda told you and showed you… kill that narrative rn”.

Gervonta responded to this with a 😎 emoji in a post that has since been deleted. He later added in a comment to one of Roach’s posts, “Exactly, becuz you a b****..now go sit down and put ya hand on ya chin and figure out how that happen to ya mans..same way I put food in ya mouth, I took it..snatchesssssss! 🤌”.

gervonta davis

A bit later on, Gervonta added (in another since-deleted post), “Buddy trying to sue..he always do that he’s really a b**** and his whole team”. Most believe this was another direct shot at Roach.

Roach later responded to several memes fans made of him beating Davis up. While Tank was done replying on August 25, he came back on the morning of August 26 and wrote, “Stay away from things that triggers you”.

Tank and Roach are clearly triggered by each other, so perhaps Tank will stay from social media banter with Roach for the time being.

As CountDown Begins: Crawford Reveals One thing He Won’t Hold Onto When the Bell Rings Against Canelo Alvarez

Terence Crawford may have it all to gain on September 13th against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, but he will lose one thing when he steps into the ring.

The fight against the undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo gives Crawford a chance to make history by potentially being the first male to become a three-weight undisputed titleholder in the four-belt era.

While some say he is poised to have the ‘night of his life’ against Alvarez, it is still unknown exactly how he will adapt to the fifth weight class of his career against an established 168 lb king.

His last undisputed title came during his greatest career performance against Errol Spence Jr in a huge grudge match, which crowned ‘Bud’ the best welterweight of his generation with a ninth stoppage.

Terence Crawford will immediately lose one thing when he steps into the ring for the Canelo Alvarez fight

He is known for winning belts in multiple weight classes in style, with six knockouts in a seven-fight run in the super lightweight division to pick up all the belts.

But his most recent title win in the super welterweight division, in a fight where he was ‘pushed to the limit’ against Israil Madrimov, gained him another accolade.

The win made him the WBA champion, but the Omaha fighter has not defended it since the victory, instead opting to hold out for the super-fight against Alvarez.

This decision has now led the WBA president, Gilberto Mendoza Jr, to confirm, via Dan Rafael, that once the 37-year-old hears the sound of the bell, he will lose his title.

After Vicious Knockout And Dominant KO Win Fury Fires Warning Shot at Usyk

A viral post, a bold claim, and a trilogy tease shake the heavyweight division.

Tyson Fury: Oleksandr Usyk didn’t just win—he put on a masterclass. A fifth-round knockout of Daniel Dubois at a packed Wembley Stadium crowned him the undisputed heavyweight champion, adding the IBF title to his glittering collection. Fans were still buzzing when the aftershock hit: someone wasn’t letting Usyk enjoy his victory lap for long.

Enter Tyson Fury. The Gypsy King, 36, came storming back into headlines with the kind of swagger only Fury can deliver.

In a now-viral video shared by Boxing Kingdom, the former WBC kingpin congratulated Usyk—but didn’t stop there. Fury was shown running outdoors, focused and determined, speaking with intensity. ‘Usyk knows there’s only one man who can beat him. I’ve done it twice before and the world knows it. I’m out on the road running, I’ve come home and did my job and got myself back, and I am the man. I’m the Spartan.’

This is no tease—Fury has confirmed his comeback. After two losses to Usyk and a brief retirement, he’s locked in on one goal: the trilogy. Turki Alalshikh turned up the heat with a bombshell announcement: ‘The Gypsy King will be back!!! I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in 2026. We have a rabbit to hunt!’ Sky Sports also reported Fury’s view that only a third fight could bring him out of retirement.

If this unfolds, forget fireworks—this will be a full-blown heavyweight inferno. Legacy, redemption, bragging rights: the ultimate prize fight to crown the true ruler of boxing’s biggest stage.

Comeback Fight: “You Know What I Did to You in Sparring” Rival Sends Ominous Message to Anthony Joshua Ahead of Comeback Fight

Anthony Joshua‘s ring return is getting ever closer. The 35-year-old has been recovering from a minor elbow injury for the majority of this year. He has not held a world title belt since 2021 when he lost to Oleksandr Usyk, who also beat him in the rematch

Though Joshua then won four on the bounce, he failed in his attempt to regain a belt when he took on Daniel Dubois last September.

With Joshua’s next move currently unknown, he has recently been called out for a huge comeback fight, after Martin Bakole threw down the gauntlet to his rival.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Bakole was asked what it would mean to him to fight ‘AJ’ in his home continent of Africa.

“I will just try to remind His Excellency he promised me he would give me one fight in Africa, especially with ‘AJ.’

“‘AJ’ you always mentioned you always wanted to fight in Africa and the Muhammad Ali Stadium. This is the moment, OK, if you are open to it, I am open OK, I am always open to fight you in Africa. We’re two African giants, so imagine if we fight in the Muhammad Ali Stadium, it’s going to be like Muhammad Ali v Foreman 2.”

Terence Crawford

He then referred to sparring sessions in which he claims he bested Joshua.

“Look, ask them why they don’t want to fight me. Ask Anthony Joshua, he knows, Dubois, I broke his nose twice. He knows why.”

Bakole has a history of sharing sparring stories but as of yet hasn’t often backed them up in the ring. Earlier this year, he was stopped inside two rounds by Joseph Parker, albeit as a late stand-in opponent who had not done a full camp.

Since then he has drawn with Efe Ajagba, while Joshua has not fought in a year and is also being linked with the likes of Jake Paul and Deontay Wilder, though most would prefer to see him take on Tyson Fury, if Fury were to come out of retirement.

“He’s Gonna Prove It to the World: Why There’s a Blueprint to Beat Canelo—But None to Stop Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford on September 13”

The countdown has begun, and the boxing world is bracing for one of the most electrifying nights in modern history. On September 13, two titans of the sport will collide, but the conversation is already leaning toward one undeniable truth: Canelo Álvarez may be beatable, but Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford remains unsolved.

For years, critics and analysts have dissected Canelo’s style. He’s powerful, relentless, and decorated with titles across multiple divisions, yet many still believe he carries flaws. Fighters have showcased the cracks in his armor—whether it was Floyd Mayweather’s schooling, Dmitry Bivol’s precision, or even Gennady Golovkin’s punishing pressure. In other words, the boxing community has seen what it takes to beat Canelo. There’s a blueprint.

But when the conversation shifts to Terence Crawford, everything changes.

The Mystery of Crawford

Crawford isn’t just undefeated—he’s untouched. He adapts mid-fight like a chess grandmaster, seamlessly switching from orthodox to southpaw, dismantling opponents who once believed they had the key to breaking him down. The reality is harsher: no one has ever unlocked Crawford.

From dismantling champions like Errol Spence Jr. in shocking fashion to asserting his dominance against Kell Brook, Shawn Porter, and Viktor Postol, Crawford has consistently proven there is no one-size-fits-all strategy to beat him. His unpredictability, timing, and ability to neutralize strengths make him a puzzle that fighters simply cannot solve.

gervonta davis

As one insider boldly declared: “There’s a blueprint to beat Canelo—but there’s no blueprint to beat Bud.”

September 13: The Day of Reckoning

On September 13, the lights will be brighter than ever. Canelo, the Mexican superstar, steps into the ring with pride, legacy, and redemption on the line. Crawford, meanwhile, walks in as the man with everything to gain—legacy, respect, and the opportunity to etch his name into the greatest of all time conversation.

For Crawford, this isn’t just another fight. It’s a statement. He’s gonna prove it to the world. The whispers about him being too small, too untested at super middleweight, or incapable of handling Canelo’s raw power will all be silenced—if he walks away victorious.

The Stakes Have Never Been Higher

This isn’t just about titles, money, or fame. This is about history. A Crawford victory could forever tilt the balance of boxing’s narrative: from the dominance of Canelo Álvarez, the sport’s biggest superstar, to the brilliance of a fighter many are now daring to call the most complete boxer of his generation.

For Canelo, a win reaffirms his position as boxing’s face and the indomitable force at super middleweight. For Crawford, it means immortality.

Final Word

There’s no denying it—September 13 could change the sport forever. One fighter carries the weight of proven greatness with visible cracks in his foundation. The other, an undefeated genius, waiting to show that his brilliance has no limits.

Terence Crawford

The world is watching. The stakes are higher than ever. And when the bell rings, we may finally discover the answer to boxing’s biggest question: Is there truly no blueprint to beat Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford?

It’s official: Boxing’s Biggest Disruptor, International Superstar Gervonta Davis vs. Jake Paul War on the Horizon”

It’s official: Boxing’s biggest disruptor, international superstar, and the WBA’s No. 14 ranked cruiserweight Jake “El Gallo de Dorado” Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) will fight undefeated three-division champion, reigning WBA world champion, and pound-for-pound great Gervonta “Tank” Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs). TLDR: It’s Jake vs. Tank, and it’s going to be a fight for the ages.

The bout will take place at State Farm Arena in Atlanta and will stream live globally on Friday, Nov. 14, only on Netflix, included in all plans.

Jake vs. Tank is the culmination of four years of call-outs and a brewing rivalry between Paul, the sport’s most-watched fighter, who has redefined boxing promotion, and Davis, one of the most feared punchers in the world and widely regarded as the Mike Tyson of his generation.

Paul and Davis, the favorite boxers of Gen Alpha and Gen Z, respectively, have both battled to claim the title of modern boxing’s biggest star, setting the stage for this monumental showdown. Paul enters the bout almost exactly one year after headlining the largest boxing or MMA event in more than four decades, while Davis holds the record for the highest pay-per-view buys and revenue event of the past four years

What to know about Jake “El Gallo de Dorado” Paul:

Jake Paul has evolved from disruptor to legitimate boxing contender in just five years as a pro. With viral knockouts and wins over names like Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, and Nate Diaz, he’s drawn millions of fans and reshaped the way boxing sells itself.

In 2024, Paul shocked the world by defeating Mike Tyson in the most-watched live professional sporting event in history, a record-shattering broadcast that drew 108 million viewers. He followed it up in June 2025 with a unanimous decision over Julio César Chávez Jr., cracking the WBA cruiserweight rankings at No. 14.

Along the way, Paul has racked up accolades from Sports Illustrated and ESPN while championing fighter pay, elevating women’s boxing, and partnering with USA Boxing to support the next generation.

Now, against pound-for-pound great Davis, he’s aiming to prove he belongs among the sport’s elite.

“Michael Conlan Boldly Backs ‘Bud’ to Pull Off the Shock Upset”Stunned by Intense Canelo-Crawford Face-Off

Terence “Bud” Crawford is a +140 underdog at Bet MGM to defeat Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on Sep. 13, but you would struggle to realize it after hearing the opinions of those involved in the sport.

Crawford seems to be favored by many, at least within the boxing fraternity, to defy logic and dethrone Alvarez of his undisputed super middleweight titles and make history as the first-ever three-weight male undisputed champion of the four-belt era at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

“I’m like [50-50]. I’ll flip-flop if I go too early. But when I watched the face-off and I [saw] Bud step to him and I [saw] Canelo’s face, I leaned towards Bud now,” featherweight contender Michael Conlan told Uncrowned and DAZN’s “Ariel x Ade” show last week. “At the start, I leaned toward Canelo because he’s so big, and [usually] the better big man beats the better smaller man.

“But Bud is just so game and one of the best fighters, pound-for-pound, of our generation, and I like him as a person. He’s a great guy. I think Bud just has the edge now. Canelo is probably starting to kind of go on the slide. Not much — he’s still an unbelievable fighter, one of the best of this generation as well. It’s an interesting fight, but something about that face-off made me go, Bud’s got this.'”

Conlan’s fellow Irishman, the Dana White-backed prospect Callum Walsh, took over from Conlan as the Irish headlining act for St. Patrick’s Day weekend in New York. Now with Conlan and Katie Taylor heading toward the finish line in their storied careers, Walsh will look to take the next step in becoming the new face of Irish boxing with a win over Fernando Vargas Jr. in the Alvarez vs. Crawford co-feature.

“Callum is a fantastic fighter. [He’s] a great man. He can do big things in boxing,” Conlan said of Walsh. “He’s got the backing of Zuffa Boxing [Dana White]. They’ve been behind him with Tom Loeffler [360 Promotions] from the start, which has been fantastic. He’s probably more well-known in UFC audiences than boxing audiences because he’s been fighting on [UFC] Fight Pass a lot. But I think he’s the real deal. I think he knocks out Vargas. I don’t think Vargas is the best of the brothers, I think Emiliano [is]. I rate that kid so highly, he’s a fantastic fighter. I would say Fernando is second and Amado last.”

While Walsh is touted to be the future, Conlan realizes that his days as the present of Irish boxing are coming to a close. The former WBA title challenger confirmed to Uncrowned that while his Sep. 5 date with Jack Bateson will not be his last appearance in a boxing ring, it is part of his final run in the sport.

RELATED NEWS : Angel Reese Sparks Uproar With Explosive Take on Gervonta

“[My next fight is] definitely not [my] final fight,” Conlan insisted to Uncrowned. “[But] it’s the last roll of the dice. I’ll roll ’em and see how far they go. People say, ‘This is the best training camp I’ve had,’ and all this. I’m not gonna say it’s the best training camp I’ve [ever] had, but it’s the best I’ve been inside and outside the ring mentally and physically, and I’m in a great position.”

Gervonta davis“I have no weight on my shoulders, no kind of worries. What will be will be. I’m at peace with that, so there’s no pressure. I can just go in and enjoy myself, and that’s what I plan to do for the rest of this career. I [still] want to get a world title. I’m aiming towards that. I think I can still do it. I believe I can still do it.”

Bateson, whose lone career defeat came to Shabaz Masoud in a November 2022 British title final eliminator, is a long way away from the world level at 126 pounds, but with Conlan having only an eight-round bout in the bank since brutal back-to-back stoppage defeats in 2023, it provides a measuring stick to ascertain what level Conlan is — and can still compete at for the remainder of his career.
